This past weekend, March 19-20, 2016, Alexis and Sonya Datta qualified to debate as one of the six teams that will represent Maryland at the National level in the National Catholic Forensic League Debate tournament that will take place in Sacramento, CA from May 28-29. The two were ranked first coming out of the local debate circuits, and competed until the semifinals at the State tournament, which only accepted 16 teams to compete.
The Dattas are working with their sponsor and coach, Mrs. Jennifer McQueeney, in training RHHS's novice debaters to compete at local and national tournaments in the area and around the country.
Students interested in debate should contact Mrs. McQueeney at jennifer_mcqueeney@hcpss.org.
Below are the various types of debate in which students can compete:
Children's Literature, Dramatic Performance, Duo Interpretation, Extemporaneous Speaking, Impromptu, Lincoln Douglas, Oral Interpretation, and Public Forum
