Vision:
The River Hill High School community will empower our students to reach new levels of 21st century literacy while fostering global and personal responsibility.
Mission:
The mission of River Hill High School is to promote integrity, humility, and balance in academic and personal endeavors. The students will be challenged to apply critical thinking and new technologies to real-world applications. The faculty will foster leadership and responsibility while appreciating our diverse cultural heritage.
On Track CCR Strategy 1: Implementing effective Tier I differentiated supports during first instruction.
Statement of Commitment: At River Hill, we are committed to providing students with appropriate support during instruction so that students have increased access and proficiency with course standards.
Action Steps:
- We will engage staff in professional learning and collaborative planning routines to enhance implementation of effective Tier I instruction in alignment with curriculum for the needs of a diverse student body, with support as needed.
- We will match identified students to coordinated supports focused on effective vertical articulation (for rising 9th graders) and future-focused planning for current high school students rooted in the OTG9 curriculum
- Expand 9th grade team support to include students with GPA of 2.5-2.99
- (after school support and mentoring program with skill specific interventions)
- We will foster increased teacher-parent engagement in order to increase access to instruction and further support.
On Track CCR Strategy 2: Apply effective formative and summative assessment strategies to provide meaningful feedback to students and to inform instructional decisions.
Statement of Commitment: At River Hill, we are devoted to applying effective formative assessment strategies that provide students with meaningful feedback and targeted instruction aligned to their needs that support their understanding and mastery of content standards.
Action Steps:
- Instructional staff will review both formative and summative assessments data to make adjustments to lesson strategy, collaborate with the team to discuss effective methods of reducing misconceptions and/or student gaps in understanding, and supply students with meaningful feedback to prepare them for success.
- Instructional staff will engage in collaborative team data discussions monthly, with an administrator present, to anticipate instructional adjustments based on CRA data and engage in professional learning to enhance formative assessment practices.
- Teachers will monitor the progress of each student, providing timely responses based on misconceptions and/or enrichment needs.
Attendance Strategy: Foster belonging for all students while maintaining communication with families about student attendance.
Statement of Commitment: At River Hill, we are dedicated to fostering an inclusive school culture rooted in healthy relationships and institutional access so that students will feel a true sense of belonging, making them more likely to attend consistently and reach their full potential.
Action Steps:
- Admin and teachers will review and track the implementation of TalkingPoints.
- We will encourage staff to solicit student feedback on how to make school more welcoming and engaging.
- We will provide Tier II supports (goal setting, check-ins, PBIS) in order to help students feel supported and capable of success in school and beyond.
Discipline Strategy: Use data analysis to norm the fair and consistent application of the Student Code of Conduct.
Statement of Commitment: At River Hill, we are committed to the active engagement of school leaders in data analysis in order to direct the most effective and fair application of the Student Code of Conduct among the student population.
Action Steps:
- Staff will engage in MTSS Systemic Professional Learning to increase knowledge of the proper protocol in which to apply consistent discipline practices.
- We will increase parent engagement by clearly communicating the importance of following the Student Code of Conduct with students and families, as well as emphasizing the importance of contacting home with staff.
- We will solicit student feedback on the root cause of multiple infractions in order to better combat the underlying problems leading to repeated infractions.
