PAC-Principal Advisory Council seeking student members

Fri, 08/09/2019 - 4:41pm

Students are the most important part of our education program at RHHS.  The PAC needs engaged students who want to have a strong voice for academics, athletics, and activities.

Let’s revitalize student voice so that our dynamic community of young people are empowered to drive student life at RHHS.  This year, we are instituting a Principal Advisory Council to support student voice and Hawk PRIDE.

  • Positivity- RHHS students have the right to engage with their school community to impact a POSITIVE school culture that is student-centered.
  • Relationships-RHHS students have the right to experience a well‑rounded education in a supportive and restorative culture that values connections, relationships and partnerships between home, school and the community.
  • Influence-RHHS students have the right to shape decisions that will affect student life at our school.
  • Diversity-RHHS students have the right to learn in an environment that recognizes, accepts and respects that individuals come from many different life experiences with various frames of reference and perspectives. While diversity values unique perspectives and individual differences, it also values the commonalities we all share..
  • Empathy-RHHS students have the right to feel mentally, physically, and emotionally safe in school.

What is PAC?

The River Hill High School Principal Advisory Council (PAC) seeks to establish a strong relationship between our students and our administrators. The PAC, comprised of students in grades 11-12, works from a student’s perspective to communicate and facilitate action towards addressing school needs that are related to student life. Members of the Principal’s Advisory Council will represent ALL student voices and may also serve student ambassadors for the school.

What is involved?

The Council meets with the principal on a monthly basis to provide student input on school needs. Students will be expected to participate in school-wide events held throughout the year. Students are asked to commit to being a member for one year.

Who can apply?

PAC celebrates student diversity, and any student in grades 11-12 is welcome and encouraged to apply. Just write a letter to the Principal, Kathryn McKinley, to share what makes you the special person you are, what being a Hawk means to you, and what 3 priorities you value for RHHS. Letters of interest are due to Mrs. McKinley by September 20, 2019.
