Dear Parents and Guardians,
Prom season has arrived. With the big night just around the corner, there is a buzz of excitement about what to wear, where to take pictures, how to get to the dance, and planning for after prom. Along with the excitement, a little bit of stress also swirls as parents begin to worry about safe transportation, supervision after prom, checking in throughout the night, and keeping everyone safe.
We are excited to offer our students a wonderful evening at Hard Rock Café on April 27, 2018 from 8-11 pm. This venue is a Baltimore highlight for our students, staff, and families. Prom guests are able to socialize with one another in a large group and enjoy light snacks and tempting desserts, which can reduce the stress of restaurant reservations and added transportation arrangements. We know that in years past some students have consumed alcohol between pictures at home, dinner out, and arrival at the prom, with unfortunate, but very real consequences that may result in a student being turned over to the Baltimore City Police, since Howard County SROs cannot be assigned to provide security out of county. An all-inclusive prom reduces the amount of unsupervised time and helps students make responsible decisions. Students should arrive no later than 9:00 pm in order to be admitted. Hard Rock Café T-Shirts will be given to each guest at Hard Rock Café after the Prom Court is announced.
What can guests bring to prom?
SCHOOL ATTENDANCE AND PROM: Students are expected to be present in school in order to attend the RHHS Prom. Students present for 2 hours will receive attendance credit for a partial school day, and students present for 4 or more hours will receive attendance credit for a full day of school. In order to leave school early, a student must have a parental note, signed and dated by a parent, turned into Mrs. Key in the front office and a school pass to leave class/school early.
We are looking forward to enjoying a safe, fun, Prom Night! We can’t wait to see you there!
