Hawktime Workshop - GT Independent Research or Intern/Mentor Programs

Mon, 12/12/2016 - 11:00am

The Gifted and Talented Independent Research or Intern/Mentor students with Ms Sasser invite your student to a special Hawktime Workshop, this Wednesday Dec 14th in the Student Services/Guidance Center.

This interactive workshop is designed to give students an understanding of the opportunities available in the GT Independent Research & Intern/Mentor Research Programs. At this workshop the nuts & bolts of the course will be presented briefly then there will be current & former research students waiting to meet your student and have a conversation with them about their questions, the ins and outs of these programs and how to choose the course that is best for your student.

Additionally I will address the questions concretely that often stump students at this point:

  • What would I do?
  • What would I study?
  • How did everyone else come up up with a topic?
  • I am not interested in studying Art/Science/Engineering/_____(Fill in this blank with any topic).  Students often hear one presentation and think that all the students are studying topics in that field.  The reality is that students can study any topic in Independent Research and any topic that we can locate a mentor for in the Intern/Mentor Program.

Thank you again for your interest.  I hope to see your student on Wednesday!
