The Maryland High School Assessments (HSAs) are a series of end-of-course tests that cover the core academic areas of Biology and Government. The HSAs are intended to meet the testing requirements for Maryland high school graduation as well as the high school testing requirements for the federal No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB). Students currently enrolled in Biology will be taking the examination on Thursday, June 2. Students currently enrolled in Government will be taking the examination on Monday, June 6. Posters are up outside of both the media center and the cafeteria that provide students with information as to when and where they will be testing. Students should refer to them or inquire from their content teachers in the subject areas being tested. Please make every effort to encourage your students to be present on the days that they are to test. Also, students are encouraged to make sure to have a healthy breakfast and arrive to school on time. On testing days in the morning, students are to report directly to their testing locations rather than to their first period class. To accommodate testing, the lunch schedules will be modified. On testing days, Social Studies and Science students will eat during A lunch. Students who are taking afternoon session exams should go to A lunch and afterwards report directly to their testing location. Students testing in the morning session will follow their normal lunch schedule if they normally have a fourth period class that is something other than Science or Social Studies.
