Helping Hands Enrichment and Leadership Foundation, Inc. was founded in 1987 at Jeffers Hill Elementary School (JHES) by Ionnie R. Butler and Fredrika S. Hill, the principal of JHES. From 2002 to 2011, Helping Hands Saturday sessions were discontinued due to lack of funding. In 2013, Helping Hands was reestablished by Ionnie R. and John R. Butler, Jr. after receiving a grant from Howard County Columbia Foundation.
The River Hill FBLA in conjunction with the Marketing class at RHHS agreed to partner with Helping Hands to help mentor the elementary students attending the Saturday sessions and give a monetary donation.
FBLA members have been regularly attending Helping Hands Saturday sessions to help tutor the elementary children with emphasis in Language Arts and Math. Our members have enjoyed spending time with the students and helping to make a difference in their lives.
