Today was PSAT day for our 10th and 11th grade students. The 9th students participated in Breaking Barriers, Building Bridges. The goal of the day was to connect with other students by building empathy and trust between them. Students were asked to understand other people’s perspectives through participating in 3 rotations. One rotation was in the classroom where students had small group team building challenges and small group discussions; another rotation was in the auditorium where students connected with teachers by asking a panel of adults questions about their teen age years, and the final rotation is in the gym where students participated in team building activities. Students then participated in a “Crossing the Line Activity” where they will move in response to statements that pertain to their lives. They also viewed the iceberg they created while in the classroom. This iceberg represents things everything knows about them vs. what they feel others do not know about them.
