The Photography program at River Hill is a dying breed across high schools and even colleges in the country and we need your neglected or just unused old film cameras to help keep it going. We are fortunate enough to be one of only a handful of high school programs in the country to offer traditional darkroom photography to students as part of the Visual Arts department. Along with learning to shoot digitally and using our computer lab, we also teach students to shoot film, process it, and print photographs the "old-fashioned way." Howard County supplies the funds to keep these disciplines alive and a few years ago when the County was forced to decide between paying more per student or cut funding for photo, they thankfully left our program intact. However, we need your help. One of the most necessary parts is the camera. If you have an old 35mm film SLR (Single Lens Reflex) camera or any photo or darkroom equipment that is not getting use and you would like it to have a new life please consider donating it to River Hill. Many students do not have access to camera equipment and we find that parents, neighbors, or relatives have this equipment gathering dust. We ensure it will go to good use and promise to make great art out of your donation.
