Howard County Social Science Symposium

Wed, 09/20/2017 - 2:03pm

HCPSS, in collaboration with HCC, is very excited to be hosting our first Howard County Social Sciences Symposium on Friday, September 29 at Howard Community College. HCPSS has been working for the past year planning this event in collaboration with our partners at HCC. The concept is to give students an opportunity to get a sense of what a college experience is like by attending sessions with professors, getting a tour of the campus, and learning about opportunities. This is an all day field trip, that includes breakfast and lunch. This event is provided at no cost to students. Students will have the chance to tour the campus and attend several different sessions facilitated by college professors.  Some of the session titles include: "The Fascinating History of Boredom", "Memories: Do They Really Last Forever?", "The Sociology of Violence in American Sports", and "Fun Facts about Today's Economy".

If your 10th, 11th, or 12th grade student is interested in taking advantage of this opportunity, please encourage him/her to visit Mr. DiFato in room 241 in order to receive a permission slip and be included as one of the 20 participants at RHHS.

Please contact Mr. DiFato (john_difato@hcpss.org) with any questions.
