Homecoming Week Oct. 4-8

Wed, 09/28/2016 - 6:19pm

Everyone in our school community is invited to show RHHS school spirit.  Students will be working to earn Top of The Hill points for their designated class! The simple requirements include participating in Homecoming Spirit Days and checking in at the SGA table outside of the cafeteria during lunch shifts each day! The class with the most points at the end of the year will be able to enjoy a spirit picnic in the spring.

Tuesday, October 4th

We plan to kick off spirit week with Maryland Day. Students will show both school spirit and Maryland pride whey they dress up in favorite Maryland gear to earn Top of the Hill points for the class.

Also, Hallway Decorating will be underway from 3-8pm. Pizza will be served for all of the student workers!  RHHS staff will vote on the most spirited hallways on Wednesday, October 5th and Top of the Hill points will be awarded.

Wednesday, October 5th

Everyone watches something on television and we want to see the viewer favorites!  TV Character Day is sure to entertain! School is G-rated so even the Survivor fans will need to dress for a day in school since everyone will be watching!

Do you want to watch something that promises great entertainment? Come see the Junior-Senior girls play a game of football and the Junior-Senior boys cheer for them. The Powder Puff Game promises to be fun that will be off the charts.  In the event of rain, we will have to cancel the event for the safety of our players and cheerleaders.

Thursday, October 6th

This year’s Homecoming theme is Mother Nature. Class themes will come to life as the hallway decorations are reflected in the student spirit wear.

  • Freshman: Polar Ice
  • Sophomores: Savannah
  • Juniors: Rainforest
  • Seniors: Underwater

With the fall chill in the air, what better way to celebrate Mother Nature than a family night out in the great outdoors!  Come enjoy some time with your family and community neighbors at the Boosters event. The Bonfire, hosted by Boosters, will be held from 5:30-9:00pm in the Columbia Gym’s parking lot. There will be music and food!

Friday, October 7th

Class color day makes it easy to see which class has the most spirit and hawk pride!

  • Freshman: White
  • Sophomores: Carolina Blue
  • Juniors: Yellow
  • Seniors: Navy Blue

The Homecoming Pep Rally will takes place during 5th and 6th periods. While the class colors decorate the bleachers, students will enjoy performances and games for the Top of the Hill Competition. Any student who would like to represent his/her class in a game during the Pep Rally should fill out the student survey. Games include tug of war, a three legged race, a water balloon toss, an obstacle course, and a whipped cream challenge. The survey is posted in the same announcement with the Homecoming Court voting survey.

Prior to and during the JV football game, HawkFest hosts club activities for our fans. During both the JV and Varsity Football games, each class will sponsor a table located inside the stadium. Students should wear class colors or their 12th Man Shirts (FBLA will be selling these shirts and all proceeds go to historic Ellicott City).

Here is something new and really exciting. Each class will have painted and decorated a Class HAWK.   You might have seen something like this at your own college alma mater.  The entire community is encouraged to place your ticket slip in the box in front of the most spirited Hawk.  Be sure to vote for the best hawk as you walk into the stadium! The class with the best Hawk will earn Top of the Hill points!

Hawk Pride is all you need to bring to the Homecoming football game! River Hill will be facing Long Reach. The JV game kicks off at 4:30 and the Varsity game follows at 7pm.
