Assessments for Graduation vs College & Career Readiness Standards

Assessments for Graduation

 

The Maryland High School Assessments (HSAs) and the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) assessments are a series of end-of-course exams that test student knowledge.  Students participate in four assessments required for graduation:

 

PARCC Algebra I

PARCC English 10

Biology HSA

American Government HSA

College & Career Readiness Standards

 

Maryland school systems must assess students in mathematics and English language arts and literacy by the end of their 11th grade year.  This is required by the College and Career Readiness and College Completion Act of 2013. 

 

For the graduating class of 2017, the following assessments are being used to determine College and Career Readiness:

 

PARCC English 10

PARCC Algebra II
