Matthew Campbell was the recipient of the prestigious Sankofa Award presented by the Howard County Council of Elders.   In recognition of the ancient African tradition of the dual roles of the human spirit, the Council of Elders established the Sankofa Award to recognize graduating seniors who each exemplify outstanding qualities of excellence. This award is based on the meaning of the Adinkra symbol, Sankofa, which means, "The wisdom in learning from the past in building the future. " Each year this award is presented to the student who has demonstrated high academic performance, leadership, service, and citizenship in the community, worthy of emulation by present and future generations of students. Matthew has been admitted to attend The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) this upcoming fall in their Aerospace Engineering Program.
